King's Award for International Trade
Teagle is delighted to have won a King’s Award for Enterprise for International Trade in recognition of its significant growth in Export Sales over the past three years.
Teagle's range of 'Tomahawk' bale processing machinery is offered primarily to support good practise in livestock husbandry, for feeding and winter housing, and more recently in bioenergy applications and erosion control.
The third-generation family business undertakes all manufacturing at its plant near Truro in Cornwall, and currently employs around 150 staff. The award was gained in recognition of outstanding growth in key overseas markets including France, Ireland, USA and Germany. Access to new markets was also recognised with products recently shipped to India, Thailand, Vietnam, Chile and China. Export sales now represent over 50% of total business revenue.
Through continuous design innovation and a commitment to manufacturing quality products Teagle have expanded a strong UK following to include farmers operating Teagle's market leading range of 'Tomahawk' Bale Processors in over 120 countries worldwide.
Reliability and first class after-sales support is critical when operating overseas, and is provided through a team of over 50 experienced distributors, guided by Teagle's own export Sales Managers based in key markets who provide local backup to customers and feedback to the team back at base.
Reflecting on the achievement, Managing Director Tom Teagle says "It is testament to every member of the team at Teagle that customers return to us time and again which has culminated in receiving this award. A focus on increasing export footprint gains us a wide range of experience, with our products operating in the most challenging conditions. We feed this experience back into our products to ensure that they stay at the forefront in their sector. The King’s Award for International Trade is one of the highest accolades any business can receive, and the success we’ve achieved illustrates the vital role small businesses like Teagle can contribute to the reputation of UK manufacturing. This award marks a milestone in the history of the company and is welcome at a time that farmers globally are facing significant challenges."
The Award programme, now in its 58th year, is the most prestigious business award in the country and reflects The King’s desire to continue the legacy of HM Queen Elizabeth II’s by recognising outstanding UK businesses.
